Arrival
Arrival
The dream spiraled
breathing in the darkness
hidden at the edge of the world
she unfolded in the stillness of my shadow
and wandered out beyond my memory
she came for me
through ancient echoes
reaching for belonging
down the river of my heart
voices in my veins
my hands
my hips
my ancestors infinite lives in mine
I walked through graveyards
to find my life
a temple where
my body
and the dead
remember
each body abandoned
each body betrayed
each body held
each body so beautiful the moon lowered herself
into our skin
in prayer we stare
into the shaking jaws of shame
tell me
where does it hurt?
hold love’s portal wide
the current sweeping freedom in
in the beginning, the quiver, the crack
the soil says now, now, now
the moon
blows gently in each broken bone
a body blessed and born
this darkness bears no orphans
all her children walk in light
in their eternal meeting we emerge
the unbroken thread
of life’s unceasing Yes
pulsing my heart awake
tell me
whose moon
am I
are you?
